How do you exactly describe spacious, decent and furnish? Yarra House has all of the description of decent and furnish. The house design by Leeton Pointon Architects and Susi Leeton Architects is just absolutely livable and yet furnished. The home interior is largely influenced by the style of modernism and minimalist touch. It’s luxurious in some way but it’s not glamorous, it’s not flashy and it’s calming. This is what I really like from the house. On the approach of the entrance very much influence from a cave formed shape rendered by concrete walls. Only the slight and irregular black window frame insertions appear to allow light into the house.
The main features of this house are; the light cascades down oak and white plastered surfaces which washes over limestone and marble, illuminating art, furniture and every handcrafted and natural surface throughout the house.
Focal point and central pivot of this modern humble house is a sculptural circular stair. It divides the entire double-storey space as it stretches out under a steep exterior site. Yarra House is encapsulated mainly by using timbers, stone and every other interior feature, thus with a very much of excellent design creating such a calming atmosphere. The house is located at the south of the Yarra River in Melbourne. Yarra House has won the Architecture Award for Interior Architecture at 2009 Victorian Chapter Awards.
