The Great Qtica Experiment!

Hey everyone! Today I will be reviewing the well-known Qtica Nail Growth Treatment. As you may know, i broke my thumbnail a few weeks ago and I was forced to cut it very very short. I decided to get this treatment and see how well it really works. I took a picture the first day and one two weeks later. Qtica claims that it can help your nail grow up to 1/8 of an inch (~ 4 mm) within two weeks. In the end, my nail grew 3/16 of an inch, which is not too bad! If you look at some of my early posts you will see how slowly my nails grow!

This stuff is on the spendy side, it goes for about $12 USD for the small size (.25 fl oz.)and $20 for the big size (.5 fl oz.). I am only going to use this when I break a nail to save money! It does pretty well as a base coat, but I like my OPI Nail Envy better.

Below are my pictures, the first one is day 1 and the last one is day 14. I apologize for the staind and dry cuticles and leftover nail polish, acetone is drying out my skin and it is hard to clean off the nail when the skin has cracked open; acetone stings!

My Wallet Hates Me...

Well I WAS on a no-buy.....but then my nail broke so I needed some Q-tica, and that took me to Ulta, and it is so hard to resist in Ulta! At Ulta I got Qtica and OPI Significant Other Color. Then I HAD to go to Sally's because it is right next to my boyfriend's house, and I got the double-sided nail art brush and China Glaze For Audrey. Then I had to buy the prizes for the giveaway so I went to my grocery/drugstore. I picked up Sinful Colors UFO and my own bottle of Canary Yellow. Then I saw that they now carry the entire Art Deco line, so I got the Gold and Silver Glitters!
I will also have another haul sometime soon, it has to come in the mail first! It will probably be posted the day after I get it. Thank goodness I have a job now!

Fixing a Broken Nail

So this was my nail as of about a week ago. I grabbed a chair to pull it ou from under a desk and this happened. Why Nail Envy, why?!? Why didn't you stop this?

Thankfully it didn't hurt even though it technically went into the quick (the pink part), but only the top layer of the quick peeled off at the edge of the nail. I tried to use super glue and it worked for a few days, but eventually it would break at different layers and it just wasn't staying on. So I cut it. :( Now it looks super stumpy in comparison to the rest of my nails.

I got a little forwarded Christmas money, so I went to go buy the little thing of Qtica because it does hurt when I use the end of my thumb for stuff and I need the nail to grow out over it. Thus in a couple of weeks; you will see a post showing the "Great Qtica Experiment". I am taking pictures of the nail every three days to see if it really helps or not.

Sorry about the rambling story, this is the first time that I have ever even grown my nails out long enough to get a nail break like this. Sigh, such is the life of someone who wants longer nails, right?
