NOTD: Neon Rainbow!

Hey everyone! I have been really loving neons lately so I decided that I wanted to wear a lot of them at once. From thumb to pinky they are (all China Glaze) Pool Party, Flip Flop Fantasy, Kiwi Cool-ada, Blue Sparrow, and Flying Dragon. I have gotten a lot of compliments on this manicure, it is so bright and fun! What do you think? Are you wearing any neons this summer?

NOTD: Missing Royalty

Hi everyone! Today is a simple combination of ELF Royal Purple and Sinful Colors I Miss You. I have been loving the nice weather of late, but it looks like it is going to snow either today or tomorrow. :( I really wish that it would just stay warm; I feel like the weather is reflecting my mood. So I am just going to be depressed over the next few days; fun times. I hope that you all have an awesome day though! :D

NOTD: Light and Pretty

Hi everyone! Awhile ago I felt like having a french manicure, so I put on China Glaze Light as Air and Nailene French Tip Pen in White Pearl to create this one. It definetly makes me think of spring and lately I have been loving the pastel trend. I like how it turned out but it is definitely missing something. I think it needs a design or some glitter, it needs something to make it special. What do you think I should have added to it to make it awesome?

Parlez-Vous OPI?

Hello everyone! Today I am showing you a polish that I had been lemming for awhile because I am a complete sucker for purples. Isn't it purty? Parlez-Vous OPI? is a medium creamy and slightly dusty purple color. It goes on opaque in two coats and has a great formula. It was very easy to apply. For some reason I just really love colors from the France collection, and I am glad that they have been available for so long! Now, do you have this color and do you love it as much as I do?

China Glaze Flying Dragon

Hi everyone! Today I am bringing you my first true neon, China Glaze Flying Dragon. My boyfriend picked it out for me at Sally's, boy does he have good taste!  This is a gorgeous neon purple with 2 parts pink sparkles and 1 part blue sparkles. Note that this picture was taken after I applied a top coat, it dries very matte. It doesn't wear as well as most of my polishes, it started chipping in less than a day. Is that normal with neon formulas? It is so pretty though, I love all of the wonderful compliments that I get when I wear it! Do you like it too?

Nail Art: Purple and Polka Dotted!

Hi everyone! Today I am bringing you something more fun! This is Parlez-Vous OPI and Chi Chi Cyber Vixen for the dots. I did use a dotting tool, there is no way that I could freehand that! I thought that this was a fun one to wear and I got several compliments on it, so yay! Do you like it too?

KOTD: Purple Tone-On-Tone

Hello everyone! Today I am bringing you another tone-on-tone manicure, and I am loving how it turned out! I have never used this particular flower pattern before so it was really fun to try! My boyfriend is loving the tone-on-tone manicures, I don't know why but he does! He is so sweet. Anyways, I used the m20 plate, Parlez-vous OPI?, and China Glaze Devotion. Do love how this turned out too?

Be sure to go and vote in the Seche/China Glaze Contest, I know that a lot of you were asking yesterday about it! Go and vote for your favorite! (I hope it's me!) :)

China Glaze Light As Air

Hi everyone! Today I am bringing you Light As Air from the Up Up and Away collection. Just in case you haven't seen the bajillion swatches out in the blogosphere already lol. It is a pale dusty lavender, and I love it! It applies thick, smoothly, dries fast, and wore really well. I will say that this polish is on the thicker side; if you have problems with the formula of China Glaze For Audrey, you might have problems with this one too. Personally I love thicker polishes, I cannot stand when they are too runny! My boyfriend loves this color on me; I must say that I am a fan of pastels, they make me look a little tanner than I am. This is so subtle and pretty, do you like it too?

ELF Royal Purple

Hi everyone! Today I bring you one of my ELF polishes from the trio that I purchased, ELF Royal Purple. This is by far my favorite polish out of this trio. The other colors are good, but this one is fabulous! It is a gorgeous frosty pinked purple that is so unique! It is almost perfect in one coat, but I do two for good measure. It is a great polish, especially for a dollar! Isn't is pretty? I would describe it as a magenta with a blue/purple flash to it, the picture is pretty accurate.

Today is the last day that you can enter my giveaway!!!! It ends at midnight MST tonight, so if you haven't entered please do so! Link in the upper right-hand corner ;)

Nail Art: Mardi Gras!

Laissez les bon temps rouler! Hi everyone, today is Mardi Gras so I am sharing not only my Mardi Gras nails, but the Mardi Gras tradition as well. I used OPI Green-wich Village, China Glaze Harmony, and Art Deco Gold Glitter.

I am not Catholic, so I do not do Lent, but I do cheat and celebrate Mardi Gras anyway. Much of my family lives in Southern Lousiana so I am hardcore into the Mardi Gras tradition. I used to give presentations on Mardi Gras every year in French classes and such. I won't go through the whole shpeal with you all, but I will share a few fun traditions for those of you who may not know about the holiday. If you have any questions about this holiday at all, just ask, I can probably answer it.

In case you have no idea what this holiday is about (this is the super simple short version), in the Catholic religion people go through a 40 day period called Lent in which they give something up for the 40 day period (like chocolate or ice cream or nail polish lol). Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) is the day before the first day of Lent (Ash Wednesday) and basically you gorge yourself on the thing that you are giving up that day. It is also a day of merriment since Lent isn't meant to be a happy time. So it is basically a day to party!

I want to share with you my King Cake! This is a traditional cake of the Mardi Gras holiday. Everyone at the party has a slice, and in one of the slices of the cake there is a little plastic baby (it is usually hidden in the cake). My grandmother actually express shipped me this cake half-way across America from Baton Rouge Louisiana, so this is very authentic lol. The person who gets the baby hosts next year's party!

Another tradition of Mardi Gras is the parade! I don't have any pictures for you of a parade, but basically it is a line of floats that throw candy and plastic beaded necklaces at the crowd. They play loud music and it is just so much fun! Don't worry, I don't spend my Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street! ;)

Masks are another important part of Mardi Gras. This is me wearing my cheapy mask because I don't have my nice one at school with me. Most Mardi Gras parties used to be Masquerade Balls. Even though we really don't have those today, the tradition of wearing masks is still widely practiced.

I don't want to make this post too long so I will stop there. If you have further questions please ask them to me, I love this holiday, it really ranks up in the top three for me! It is a really important tradition to me, which is hard in an area of the United States that does not really celebrate it, well at least not as hardcore as I do. ;)

Also Lucy, if you are reading this; it is great to see you back! I was very excited to see your comments!

Anti-Valentine's Day: Love Be Hanged!

Hello everyone! How about an Anti-Valentine's Day mani for the big day? I think my favorite nail here is the heart noose, isn't it fitting? I used China Glaze Flying Dragon as the base and Art Deco Black and White for the ropes. Do you like it? What are you all doing for the big day, any fun plans? Or maybe you are like me, and are too busy studying to do anything lol.

If you love this manicure, go vote for it here! Check out the Polish Bloggers Network's new website as well, it is pretty awesome!

I also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has offered me comfort during this rough patch in my life. I hope that you are all right and that something better will come along for me! I <3 you all!

Valentine's Day: Corset Hearts

Hi everyone! Valentine's Day is only a short 5 days away, and I am kicking off the celebration here on Naive Nails with 5 days in a row (through February 14th) of Valentine's themed nails! Some will be more traditional, and some will not, I am trying to give some variety to the designs.

Today's mani is a little more on the naughty side of Valentine's Day, as for some reason this holiday makes me think of sexy under-things. I may have stolen the design of the heart from a piece of jewelery made by Evil Angel (hope you don't mind, I love you!). I used ELF Royal Purple, and Art Deco Polishes in White and Black. I love how it turned out, do you love it too?

Sally Hansen Opulent Cloud

Hello everyone! As some of you may know, I have been lemming this polish for awhile, but I was having a hard time finding it. I had checked several drugstores, only to see all three of the other colors that were released with this, but never Opulent Cloud. Then my lovely boyfriend developed a terrible cough, so we went to the Walgreens near his house to get him some cough syrup and cough drops, when there it was. Out next to the door of the store, one bottle of Opulent Cloud. (Angels singing!) Needless to say I snatched that puppy up! And now here it is in all of its purple/green/grey duochromey splendor! :Q........

It applied alright, it wasn't anything special in terms of formula. It was a little runny and took me three coats to get it opaque. If you aren't patient with this polish (like me) you will get some grabbing, balding, and bubbles, so take your time with this one! The color is stunning though, and totally worth waiting for in my opinion.

Now, did you pick up this color? If you did, did you like it, or did it not live up to the hype for you?

And of course for those of us in the US, tomorrow is the Superbowl! Geaux Saints! I didn't do a celebratory manicure, please forgive me. Are you going to watch? Who are you cheering for?

NOTD: Celia Misses You!

Hi everyone! Today I am bringing you kind of a boring mani, but I thought that it would turn out better than it actually did. It is still not too bad though I guess! This is Mecca Cosmetica Celia under a layer of Sinful Colors I Miss You. The pink tones don't match as well as I had hoped, but you can really only tell if you look closely. Can you tell that I love this glitter though? If you have access to it, I urge you to run to your nearest Walgreens and go get it, it is totally worth it!

Another reminder that I will be doing a 300 follower giveaway, and I am only a handful of followers away from it!

Nail Art: Missing Lincoln Park

Hi everyone! I decided to try and go for a gradient manicure again, and this one turned out a lot better! I love this mani! Pinks and purples are probably some of my favorite colours so this mani is perfect for me! I used OPI Lincoln Park After Dark and Sinful Colors I Miss You. I couldn't stop staring at my nails all day, and I got loads of compliments on it. It is almost like pink snow falling to me, do you love it as much as I do?

Coral Colors Tyrian Metalix

Hello everyone! Today I am swatching the final polish from my gift from Selina! It is Coral Colors Tyrian Metalix. In the bottle this color looks like a frosty/metallic blue, but it actually isn't. It's a violet purple with an overwhelming, brash royal blue duochrome! Of course I couldn't capture the purple in the polish, but rest assured it is there. This polish smelled strange, more like paint thinner than nail polish. Considering that I am completely desensitized to the smell of nail polish, smelling this one was strange indeed! It was a bit thick and took a long time to dry, but other than that I LOVE this polish! I think that this polish would be so cute on Kiwi, do you?

Awesome Fun Good Times With KellieGonzo!

Hello everyone! On Saturday I met up with KellieGonzo from Also Known As and Mickelle (who will be starting her own blog soon) and we went polish shopping! It was so much fun! No one I know outside of blogging are into nail polish, so it was really nice to hang out with someone who is as obsessed as I am! We went to a lot of stores; Ulta (where we met up), Nordstrom Rack, Claire's, Icing, Trade Secret, some other store that looked exactly like Trade Secret, Dillards, and Forever 21. First we'll do the goodies and then the fun pictures. Hold on, this is going to be a long post!

Firstly, Kellie got me a prezzy, which was SO sweet of her! I feel really bad because I didn't bring her a present, but she is totally getting a big one next time. Thanks again so much Kellie!!!

What's in the bag with the cute poodle on it?

Nu Skin Stuff! I cannot wait to try this stuff out! I got an Epoch Baobab Body Butter, Nu Skin Liquid Body Bar, Nu Skin Liquid Body Lufra, Nu Skin Tru Face Revealing Gel, a Travel Bottle for hand lotion, and a very cute zebra bag to put it all in! Thank you so much Kellie!

Next is my nail polish haul from Ulta, I picked up Parlez-Vous OPI?, Dulce de Leche, and I got Ginger Bells on clearance!

Now as some of you may know, I am an Escada Summer Fragrance junkie. I looked for the new one, Marine Groove, at Ulta but they didn't have it yet :( Luckily two doors down at Nordstrom Rack they had Ocean Lounge for cheap, I only buy Escada perfume there lol. It smells SO good!!! Not that I needed more Escada perfume....

*Shifty Eyes* Anyways, lastly I bought two cocktail rings, the top one is from Forever 21 and the bottom one is from Icing.

Kellie and I also had a swap (hooray for no shipping costs!) and here is what I recieved:

I got Tip Toe in Gold Rush, Zoya Luna, Zoya Lily, CHI Hot Ring Illusion Around Saturn, and Sally Hansen HD in Three D. Aren't they purty? Now for the fun pictures!

Mickelle looking at earrings at Icing!

Yes, that is a hand muff on a chain. Isn't it hot? (sorry about the scary bangs, my hair did not want to behave! I look really strange in this picture lol!)

As Mickelle said; I would totally switch teams for that.

Kellie and I at Icing!

Kellie and I outside before I head home!

Me, Kellie, and Mickelle at the end of the day!

It was such a blast! I hope that we can do it again soon! :) Be sure to check out Kellie's post!!!! Her haul was bomb!
