Julia Andrews Denies Asking for Fee Over Tribute
Aceshowbiz : A spokesperson for Dame Julie Andrews has dismissed reports the veteran actress demanded a staggering fee to take part in a BBC tribute show on her 75th birthday.
The "Sound of Music" star will hit the milestone in October and was due to celebrate her career by appearing on a U.K. TV special alongside several of her former colleagues.
Producers were said to have expected Andrews to participate for free and negotiations allegedly halted after she asked to be paid. But her publicist has shrugged off the rumors, insisting Andrews did not ask for a pay cheque.
He tells Britain's Sunday Telegraph, "We have heard rumblings of the desire to do a tribute. There have been no direct conversations about it. As such, no fee was ever requested. Whoever 'told' you that a big fee was demanded is being untruthful." The publication reports that the Andrews tribute is unlikely to go ahead.
