If you've been reading this blog for more than a minute plus, you may possibly know that '80s power dressing is my FAVORITE THING IN THE WORLD (besides cats). Metallic jacquards, all sequins all the time! It was a time when lamé wasn't lame, everyone overdressed and overaccessorized for EVERYTHING, makeup was generally WAY too dark, shoulder pads weren't met with the abhorrence one associates with a used condom. Ah, those were better, tackier, happier days.

I like how they're dressed to go on a beach holiday and I'm into the fact that Barbie's wearing a throwback take on her original maillot. I do have to say though, that Ken's ombre trunks, his slimmed-down waist, and his very blond hair have me wondering if he's more a friend of Judy than of Barbie. Oh wells! To the happy couple!

KOTD: Naughty Barbie

Hello everyone! Today is the second and last post in my Barbie series, and I am showing you Naughty Barbie. I used Essie Forget Me Nots, Art Deco Black, and the Konad m57 plate.

When I think of naughty Barbie, I think of the doll that you dress up in fishnets, a black leather miniskirt, and a skimpy tubetop to go to the club in. She drives a sleek car and isn't afraid to drink a little a dance into the early hours of the morning. Then maybe she will go home with a guy who is not Ken (gasp!), who knows? How do you interpret naughty Barbie?

KOTD: Nice Barbie

Hi everyone! Today I am bringing you a very mini-series (there will only be one other post in this mini-series lol) on Barbie! I decided to put my Barbie pinks and Konad kit to good use, and today you get "Nice Barbie"! Oh, and I apologize for the indoor picture!

When I think of Nice Barbie, I think of the super preppy Barbie. Like the Barbie who rides around in the Mercedes around LA who goes to prepartory school, plays tennis and has a big screen TV. That Barbie! I thought that I light Barbie pink and some argyle was in order. I used Essie Castaway as the base color, OPI Alpine Snow as the stamping color, and the m60 plate for the pattern. What is your interpretation of "nice Barbie"?

Yesterday, on one of my mini, teeny tiny "training" walks for the Avon 3-Day Walk For Breast Cancer, which I'm doing in a few weeks (Wanna sponsor me?), I ended up at the Jonathan Adler store on Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn. Please, just bury me there. It's the greatest store in this entire country. It makes me glad capitalism was created and currency was printed so I can spend it there. And, I'm not bullshitting you -- you can get a ton of great stuff there for under $100.

Why Don't Me And My Friends Look More Like This?

Seriously, why does my life and wardrobe and all of my friends not closely resemble Barbie And the Rockers, at least once in a while? BTW, I am SO BETTING that Kanye is gonna start rocking that Ken's outfit as his next look.

The Scoop On Barbie Loves Stila!

Barbie Loves Stila is the holy trinity of cute packaging, nostalgic licensing, and a good deal on beauty products. JACKPOTx3! The limited-edition collection launches in February at Sephora in honor of Babs' 50th birthday.

The collection includes four $40 "Decades of Beauty" paint cans, which come with a compact with two eyeshadows and a cheek color, mascara, lipgloss, and a lookbook, and feature four different dolls --- Ponytail Doll, for the very first Barbie in 1959; Malibu Barbie, from 1971 (my favorite because she looks a little like "Dazed & Confused" Barbie); Foxy Doll, in honor of the first Black doll released in 1980 (little late to the party there, Mattel? I'm pretty sure Black people were around a little before 1980); and 2000's Jewel Doll, who looks like old-school Britney.

Also part of the collection: a Barbie talking eye palette style. The Barbie for Stila products will also be used to Barbie-fy the models in the Barbie fashion show happening at New York Fashion Week in Febs.
