Spring is All About de Nimes (Yup Denim!)

Spring is already becoming a denim paradise by the looks of shops and editorials covered in denim shirts, jackets, skirts, hats, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if denim undies are next (no thanks!). In fact the new stylish Talbots Spring catalog has done things to denim I never thought possible. Whether you like it or not denim is here to stay!

Styling Session with Hanneli

I just saw this video with Hanneli Mustaparta and her H&M styling session where she uses items from their Spring/Summer 2011 collection. It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Hanneli and her styling, and she does definitely not disappoint in this video. Altogether she styles four different looks, ranging from grunge to festival to 70s to cute. I find them all so great, so I can not decide which look I like the most. I love the layering of the grunge outfit, but I also have a very weak spot for that 70s inspired jumpsuit.

Which look is your favourite?

Givenchy Haute Couture Spring 2011

I feel like no words can give the Givenchy Haute Couture Spring '11 collection any justice. The pieces are beyond incredible, with the exquisite detailing and the elegant symmetry created by the master and fashion genius, Ricardo Tisci. His inspiration for the couture collection is based on a concert held by Antony and the Johnsons as a tribute for the deceased japanese dancer Kazuo Ohno. Tisci told style.com that Ohno became a kind of muse for him. "Ohno provided the romance, the melancholy, and the palette (the colour of dried flowers)".

Together with this japanese elegance and softness, Tisci has worked in the elements that many of us links with Japan: electronics, and especially robots. The headpieces and the shoes are proof of this. This combination of new and old, hard and soft fascinates me deeply. Ricardo Tisci really is an amazingly talented designer.

Socheec Stingrays into Spring

Dazzling. Showstopping. Unique. Sensational. Just some of the words used to describe the bold and beautiful pieces from  New York City based Socheec Jewels' traditional meets modern jewelry collection, including some stunning art deco pieces. Blending gold, silver, diamonds, precious and semi-precious stones in their designs, Socheec has in fact just upped its luxe level thanks to a brand new collection of stingray cuffs freshly introduced for Spring 2011. These are one of a kind pieces made from sparkling stingray skin, and further adorned with vintage brooches and diamonds in eye-catching shapes such as snakes, spider webs, and zodiac signs. Sensational indeed I'll say!!

Raquel Zimmermann as The Virgin Queen in VOGUE US

I want to love this, I really do! Setting aside my excitement that yet another model has gone redhead for yet another winter editorial, I can't help but shake my head until it falls off at the sight of a photoshopped within an inch of her life Raquel Zimmermann, because instead of looking gloriously redhead she looks like a modern  Queen Elizabeth I aka The Virgin Queen wearing some very now Spring 2010 preview clothes...
Badly done Vogue US!
