Black + brown

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Many say that mixing brown and black is a fashion no-no, but when worn together with the right shades this colour combination can be brilliant.

Goldie Polishes: Neutral Set

Hi everyone! I found these polishes at TJMaxx and bought the neutral set, although there is a very pretty pink set as well. None of these have names, so I am naming them instead and giving you a full review of each polish.

This first one I am calling Sheer Pink, because that is what it is. This was my least favorite of the bunch, this was two coats and clearly you can still see my nail tips. This polish formula is a bit thick and milky. This would be great for a french manicure though, and that is what I plan to use it for. It is a lovely color, but it is not a unique one.

This next one I am calling Shimmery Toffee. This is a muted light brown, kind of like coffee when you put a lot of creamer in it. It has a lovely subtle silver shimmer and this is my favorite of the bunch. It had the best formula, although this one is a bit on the thick side too. This is two coats and you can only see VNL if you look really close.

This last one I am calling Golden Latte. In the bottle this is a lovely dark golden brown, but the brown really doesn't show up on the nail. On the nail it is more of a medium brown with a lovely golden shimmer. The formula of this one is actually a little runny, this is three coats of polish. It didn't come out as I expected, but it is still very lovely! What do you think of these polishes?

I want to say thank you for all of the wonderful comments and wishes of good luck from the past couple of days, they mean a lot to me. I did really well at the conference, a lot of people at lunch came up to me and told me what a great job I did and I actually got voted best presentation, which I was really surprised at. Considering that I was the only undergraduate speaker there, I think that was really saying something. So yay! :D

KOTD: Falling into Winter

Hi everyone, I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving! Today I bring you another Thanksgiving themed mani, and I quite like how this turned out!

I used OPI You Don't Know Jacques, OPI Brights Power, and Sinful Colors Canary Yellow. I also used the m20 plate with China Glaze Twenty-Four K for the leaves. :)

Nail Art: Hand Turkey!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates it! Today I bring you a hand turkey! For those of you (my lovely international readers) who do not celebrate Thanksgiving and may not know, there is a grade school tradition in the US of making "hand turkeys". You trace the outline of your hand and use this outline to draw a face for a turkey on the thumb and color in the other fingers in red, orange, and yellow for "feathers". I turned this concept into nail polish form; and I love it!

I used OPI You Don't Know Jacques (brown), Sinful Colors Canary Yellow, OPI Brights Power (orange), Essie Forever Young (red), and Art Deco Black. Isn't he a sexy little gobbler? Here is a closeup of his face below. Even if you don't celebrate this American holiday, it is still a good time to count your blessings and be thankful for all of the wonderful things in your life. In reality, we should do this everyday. Have a great day everyone!

Nail Art: Sunburst

This was one of my first attempts using the Art Deco polishes a couple of months ago, not perfect but not bad. Sorry for the blurry picture, it didn't look blurry when I took it. I love the glitter, it almost reminds me of fireworks, so I may do a fireworks mani in the future, New Year's Eve perhaps?

I used OPI You Don't Know Jacques and Art Deco Gold Glitter. It's not perfect but it has inspired me for the future!

KOTD: Metallic Argyle

Hello everyone! Today's post is a poorly done Konad, sorry. I did this and didn't bother to even clean it up before I took a picture because I took it off right after the picture was taken. This was my first time working with the argyle pattern on the m60 plate. The pattern is slightly crooked, but I love the idea. I love how metallics look when Konaded, they are so crisp! I also love mixing up the textures.

I used OPI You Don't Know Jacques as a base color and China Glaze Metallic Muse as the stamping color. Although not my best work, I think that this does look ok at least.

In more exciting news, I am going to a piercing studio with two of my best friends to get piercings this afternoon! I am getting my navel pierced, one friend of mine is getting two dermal anchors in her side, and the other friend is getting her ears pierced for the first time! I am so excited!

Again, I want to apologize for all of the hassle this whole "changing the url" thing has become. It is so hard to let everyone know about the change, and it is such a pain considering that it is supposed to update automatically. Thank you all who have gone through the trouble of changing the url and updating the blogrolls, I really appreciate it! Any additional help in letting others know would be fantastic too; as I have no way of reaching followers who do not have blogs that I can comment on. Happy Monday everyone!

Mattified OPI! Post #3

Today's post is going to be #3 in my Mattified OPI series, and today are some of the brights and starting into the darks! From left to right is Fuchsia Fling!, Big Apple Red, Sea? I Told You!, and You Don't Know Jacques!.
Fuchsia Fling - I love this one matte and glossy. It is such a basic color, I love it both ways!
Big Apple Red - This one is ok matte, I don't love it though. I think I prefer it glossy, although it doesn't look bad matte.
Sea? I Told You! - It doesn't look that much different matte, but all of that glitter still pops through, which I like. It's.....different!
You Don't Know Jacques! - I love this one matte, and I saved myself monies from getting the specifically matte version of this color! This is great both ways!
The picture below contains the same polsihes glossy for comparison. Have a great day everyone!

OPI You Don't Know Jacques!

Why did it take me so long to hop on this bandwagon? I love this color, it's like it can't decide what color it is. It looks brown against grey and grey against brown! It is really pretty unique and I love it! I will probably be wearing this a lot in the fall.

It applies just like any good OPI nail polish does, it is opaque in two coats and smooth as glass. Dries very quickly too, I acciddently bumped my hand on a table and I thought, "Crap, I dented my nail!" Ok, there were a few explicatives in their too.... Anyway, I looked at my nails to see the damage and there was none! Yay! This color is available at the moment in the glossy creme and a matte version. They will soon come out with a satin version as well.
