Solve Sundsbo for Vogue China March 2011

I often do like the editorials that are featured in Vogue China a lot, and this is one of those that I love. Firstly, it is because photographer Solve Sundsbo has taken these great shots (he is one of my favourite photographers!), and secondly, it has to do with the amazing styling by Marie Chaix. The turquoise accessories, the Alexander McQueen jacket and the yellow bodycon dress are my favourite pieces in these photos. I have a sneaky feeling that I will wear a lot of yellow this summer!

Electric Yellow

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I am sooo sorry about my blogging absence! The combination of reading for exams and enjoying the days and nights with rays of spring/summer sunshine makes it hard to fit the blog in. The beginning of June will behold my comeback, so check back very soon. Meanwhile, I have and will continue to update my Sienna Miller blog xoxox

Ps. I am hooked on electric yellow at the moment. I think it will be my favourite summer colour.

Yellow, Black, Gold

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I've always thought that wearing yellow and black automatically transforms you into a bumble bee, but my mind quickly changed after seeing this photo of Alexandra Golovanoff.

And topping it off with gold shoes is brilliant!

Nail Art: Olympic-Inspired Nails

Hi everyone! If you follow me on Twitter, then you probably already know how obsessed I am with the Olympics, so of course I had to do a mani inspired by the event! I have closely watched every Olympics since the Sydney Summer Games in 2000. In fact I even live in Salt Lake City, which hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics. It was really cool to watch the opening ceremonies this year because I now know so many people around the world through blogging. When countries would march in, I would think of people that I know in those countries and cheer, it has brought me much closer to the international aspect of the Games. I love it! Do you watch the Olympics too?

I used OPI Alpine Snow, Art Deco Gold Glitter, OPI Sea, I Told You!, Sinful Colors Canary Yellow, OPI Black Onyx, OPI Green-wich Village, and OPI Big Apple Red. It is inspired by the Olympic flag, which I love because it contains at least one color that is on every flag around the world!

Mattified Sinful Colors! Post #3

Hey everyone! Here is the last of my Sinful Colors polishes to mattify, but there are still a few more posts to go before I finish still. They are Canary Yellow, UFO, and Hottie.

Canary Yellow- I am neutral on this one, I like it both glossy and matte. I find them both equally appealing.

UFO - I love matte glitters! They really help the glitter to pop!

Hottie - Same as UFO, matte glitters rock!

Below are the glossy versions for comparison, do you like them matte too?

KOTD: Falling into Winter

Hi everyone, I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving! Today I bring you another Thanksgiving themed mani, and I quite like how this turned out!

I used OPI You Don't Know Jacques, OPI Brights Power, and Sinful Colors Canary Yellow. I also used the m20 plate with China Glaze Twenty-Four K for the leaves. :)

Halloween Nails: Candy Corn

Hey everyone! I apologize in advance for the lack of cleanup, the sun was going down fast and I needed to get the shot! I got lots of compliments on these nails! I actually really hate candy corn, it tastes like vomit to me. But they are cute little candies aren't they?

I used OPI Alpine Snow, OPI Brights Power, and Sinful Colors Canary Yellow.

Sinful Colors: Canary Yellow

So this is a swatch of Sinful Colors Canary Yellow, and it is one of the polishes that I am giving away in my contest! Lucy - this polish is only streaky on the first coat, after that it applies very nicely as you can see!

As with almost all yellows, this polish is really sheer. I actually put this over OPI Alpine Snow (any white base will do) in three thin coats. When you do this it comes out very true to color; it is primary yellow. I really like how flattering it would be on most skintones, as yellows are often not flattering on me. This makes me look tan!

And as a special treat, the picture below is it matted with the Essie Matte About You topcoat! I quite like it mattified! Enjoy!

Yellow Is Coming Back

I am under the impression that not all that many people like to wear the colour yellow. I have heard quite a few people say that they feel like they look like a chicken if they wear a piece of bright yellow clothing and that it makes them extremely uncomfortable. I wonder why such a happy, lovely colour is seen as such a "no-no" to wear by so many? Since there aren't that many yellow clothes to find in the shops and since there have been quite a few months since I've actually seen someone wearing something bright yellow, I had kind of forgotten that I actually used to love this colour on clothes so much. When I saw these pictures found on The Sartorialist and Facehunter, my love for yellow is having a great comeback. I would definitely not say no to a coat like the one the first girl is wearing, or a dress like the third one has on.

What's your relationship to wearing yellow? Do you love it or hate it?

The designers are definitely trying to make yellow big. Many of the Spring/Summer 09 collections had creations in all different shades of the colour. Bold, mustard-y shades were seen in collections by Marc Jacobs and Christian Dior. Pale, soothing pastel yellow was fronted by Erin Fetherston, Elie Saab, ChloƩ and Zac Posen, while a more electric and alive shade of the colour was put on the catwalk by the likes of Versace, DKNY and Alexander McQueen. Are there any of them that you prefer?
