Matthew Williamson + H&M

"It is an incredible opportunity to be working with H&M, creating a 'Matthew Williamson for H&M' capsule collection. I love the fact that H&M has created a new phenomenon in fashion through the pioneering concept of collaborating with high-end designers to create one-off limited edition capsule collections. I am thrilled that my creations for H&M will be accessible to and hopefully enjoyed by so many people around the world" - Matthew Williamson

You have no idea how thrilled I was earlier today when I learnt that one of my favourite designers, Matthew Williamson, will be designing for H&M, and as I am writing this I can't help myself from constantly smiling. Ever since I saw Sienna Miller arm in arm with Matthew Williamson in this dress, I have been a devoted fan of his. I just can't seem to get enough of his glam-bohemian designs in bright and bold colours and large prints. And I love how he seems like he can be a girl's best friend. Forget diamonds when you can have Matthew Williamson!

The women's collection will be launched on April 23, and Williamson will also be designing a summer collection for men and women which will be in stores from mid-May. By looking at Williamson's S/S 09 collection, I think that we can definitely expect a vibrant, fun-loving and colourful summer from mr. Williamson and H&M!

Yellow Is Coming Back

I am under the impression that not all that many people like to wear the colour yellow. I have heard quite a few people say that they feel like they look like a chicken if they wear a piece of bright yellow clothing and that it makes them extremely uncomfortable. I wonder why such a happy, lovely colour is seen as such a "no-no" to wear by so many? Since there aren't that many yellow clothes to find in the shops and since there have been quite a few months since I've actually seen someone wearing something bright yellow, I had kind of forgotten that I actually used to love this colour on clothes so much. When I saw these pictures found on The Sartorialist and Facehunter, my love for yellow is having a great comeback. I would definitely not say no to a coat like the one the first girl is wearing, or a dress like the third one has on.

What's your relationship to wearing yellow? Do you love it or hate it?

The designers are definitely trying to make yellow big. Many of the Spring/Summer 09 collections had creations in all different shades of the colour. Bold, mustard-y shades were seen in collections by Marc Jacobs and Christian Dior. Pale, soothing pastel yellow was fronted by Erin Fetherston, Elie Saab, ChloƩ and Zac Posen, while a more electric and alive shade of the colour was put on the catwalk by the likes of Versace, DKNY and Alexander McQueen. Are there any of them that you prefer?

The Naked Dress

Okay, so I'm not quite finished gushing over Stella McCartney's S/S 09 collection so you'll just have to go through another post about her and her designs. More specifically one certain design. I am talking about "the naked dress" worn by model Lara Stone on the catwalk. The nude colour of the dress creates a skin-on-skin effect, that (when done right) is nearly too hot to handle. And Stella McCartney definitely gets 10 out of 10 points for this dress! I love the combination of the off-the-shoulders, slouchy top half, to the short, but still not too short, body-gripping bottom half. It's also nice the way Lara Stone has her hair pulled back tightly, that her make-up is clean and fresh, and that the accessories and shoes are kept simple. This defintely screams sex on legs!

When it comes to this dress, my thoughts instantly flew to Carrie's famous naked dress that she wore on her first date with Mr. Big in season 1. And we all know what Carrie and Big ended up doing that evening. It might be easy for some to compare the naked dress to a slutty dress, but I am not one of them. I actually think that in addition to the LBD every woman should have hanging in her wardrobe, every woman should also have a naked dress. Knowing your body, and knowing the fine line between sexy and slutty will get you a long way when it comes to having the confidence to wear and pull off this type of dress. So take some tips from Stella and Carrie, and don't be afraid to show what you've got!

Who do think has the best "naked dress", Stella or Carrie? And do have the fashion courage to wear a dress like this?
