China Glaze Matte Magic

Hi everyone! I have had this product for a really long time, but I never did a review on it! So I will do it today. Anyways, this stuff is great! It is pretty much exactly the same as the Essie matte topcoat, only it was cheaper and the packaging in my opinion is cuter, although it doesn't contain as much product. This was discontinued, but if you hunt around I am sure that you may still be able to find it. I stocked up on three bottles of it myself, I never want to run out. Granted the matte trend has long since sailed, but it is still a nice way to spice up a manicure once in awhile. If you participated in the matte trend, what was your favorite matte topcoat or matte polish?

Mattified Wet 'n Wild!

Hi everyone! Today I have both of my Wet 'n Wild polishes matted for you! They were matted with Essie's Matte About You Topcoat.

Shield - This one looks fabulous matted, I wish that I had figured this out sooner! Wow, I just really love the depth that the matte gave to this polish!

Nocturnal - This one looks beautiful matte too! It reminds me of the color of a clear night sky.

The glossy picture is below for comparison, do you like how they look matte too, or do you prefer them glossy?

Mattified Essie and Mecca!

Hey everyone! Today I bring you mattified polish! I matted these with Essie's Matte About You Topcoat. At the bottom is the picture of them glossy for comparison; enjoy!

Essie Mint Candy Apple - I think that I like this one shiny better, I don't know, candy should just be shiny! I would be wary of matte candy...

Essie Forever Young - I love this one matte! It looks so retro and fun matte! It seems very 50's/ burlesque/ pin-up awesome!

Mecca Cosmetica Celia - I love this one matte too, although its shiny counterpart tickles my fancy as well! I don't know if I will ever use it in nail art matte; but I do like it!

Stay tuned, later today I am posting my awesome fun time with kelliegonzo!!!! You need to see it!

Mattified Sinful Colors! Post #3

Hey everyone! Here is the last of my Sinful Colors polishes to mattify, but there are still a few more posts to go before I finish still. They are Canary Yellow, UFO, and Hottie.

Canary Yellow- I am neutral on this one, I like it both glossy and matte. I find them both equally appealing.

UFO - I love matte glitters! They really help the glitter to pop!

Hottie - Same as UFO, matte glitters rock!

Below are the glossy versions for comparison, do you like them matte too?

Mattified China Glaze: Metallics

Hey everyone! One of my new favorite things is mattifying metallics, so here are all of my mattified China Glazes for your viewing pleasure!

Devotion - Silver is so pretty matte, but I think that I love it more glossy!

Twenty-Four K - I like this one glossy as well, it just shines more.

Metallic Muse - I love this one matte, it looks so unique and special matte!

Harmony - I love this one matte too, it looks so sexy matte! Below is the glossy picture for comparison!

Mattified Sinful Colors! Post #2

Here is the next installment of finishing up my Mattified! series; my three darkest Sinful Colors polishes. These are Bronze, Fiji, and Burgundy Apple. Sorry about the white bits on the nails, they are the dried up bit from around the bottleneck of the essie matte topcoat I used to matte these.

Bronze - I love this one matted, it gives the polish new dimension and depth!

Fiji - I love this one matte because it brings out the purple/violet tones in the polish (look how well it photographed for a purple!)

Burgundy Apple - I like this one matte; but I think that I like it much better glossy!

What do you all think? Below is the glossy picture for comparison!

NOTD: Sparkling Wine

Hello everyone! Today's mani is a result of choosing a random color and a random glitter. I ended up picking OPI Bogota Blackberry and Sinful Colors UFO and I coated them in Essie Matte About You Topcoat.

After I picked them I thought that they would go together really well, but they don't. I feel like the color of Bogota Blackberry was overpowered by the amount of glitter that I put on. I also experienced some strange tip wear of just the glitter as you can see in the picture; and this picture was only taken a few hours after I applied the polish. Do you like the combo?

Mattified China Glaze: Creams/Glitters

Hello everyone! To continue my mattified series, I bring you all of my glitters and creams from China Glaze! They are (from thumb to pinky) Fairy Dust, For Audrey, Ruby Pumps, Emerald Sparkle, and Lubu Heels. Aren't they pretty? Below are the glossy pics for comparison. Do you agree or disagree with me on which finish is better?

For Audrey - I love this one matte, I love how flat it can look!

Ruby Pumps - I don't really like this one matte as much, the glossy version seems to have so much more dimension and sparkle!

Emerald Sparkle - Same as Ruby Pumps; I like it better glossy!

Lubu Heels - I did not like this one matte at all, it just looks grey with some scattered red glitters.

Fairy Dust - I love it both ways!

Mattified OPI! Post #5

Hi everyone! This is a series that I started a long time ago and I never finished it! So, I plan on finishing it by the end of the year with all of my new polishes too!

Today will just be two polishes, OPI Lincoln Park After Dark and OPI Merry Midnight. MM looks amazing matte! I love it! Lincoln Park after Dark doesn't look too shabby itself. Below are the glossy pics for comparison. I matted these polishes with Essie's matte topcoat. :)

How cold is it where you live? It is really, really cold here. Usually there is snow by this time of year, but for some strange reason that is not the case. Instead there is not a cloud in the sky and I get to to go to class when the wind chill outside is 7 degrees F (-14 C). It is ridiculously cold; in fact as much as I hate being out in snow I would gladly take it because snow warms things up a little. Those of you in Southern Hemisphere are so lucky to be having summer!

Guest Nails!

Hi everyone! Today I am not featuring my nails, but the nails of one of my really good friends at university. She is one of my best friends, she is studying the same subject as me and we have a lot of classes together.

She ALWAYS compliments me on my nails, and she asked me to do her nails for her, and I jumped for joy at the opportunity! She never wears nail polish, so she wanted to choose something simple. She went for OPI Kreme de la Kremlin, but I talked her into adding a little glitter (Sinful Colors UFO) and matte top coat (Essie). She wore this mani for a week and loved it! Isn't she a great hand model?

OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees Suede

Hola! Today I will be reviewing OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees Suede. I actually liked this more than I thought I would. I decided that I should buy and try one, so after searching swatches of the Suede collection I decided upon this one.

This polish is hard to apply. It dries really fast and it is very thick and gloopy. Plus the brush was all jacked up, so I am going to have to pull it out, clean it and fix it. Although it is a toughy to apply, it is gorgeous isn't it? I love it best with the top coat on it!

I honestly see no reason to not use a base coat; it helps it last longer and doesn't effect the finish. Use a base coat to your heart's content! I love this polish and I will be wearing it often this fall and winter. Do you like it best matte or shiny? I love the shiny!

Mattified OPI! Post #4

Hello! This is my last post on Mattifying OPI polishes, but fret not because I have a Sinful Colors one and a China Glaze one coming up in the near future!

Bogota Blackberry - I love this matte! I don't usually like frosts matte, but this one is really pretty.

My Private Jet - I am not so sure about this one, the glitter shows up great through the topcoat; but I think that I like it best glossy.

Russian Navy - This one is really pretty matte, but then again I am a real sucker for navy blue!

Here Today... Aragon Tomorrow - I LOVE this one matte! For some reason the topcoat really brings out the green tones in the polish so that it looks more dark green than black.

Black Onyx - This one is fine matte, nothing paticularly special.

Here is the glossy pic for comparison.

Mattified OPI! Post #3

Today's post is going to be #3 in my Mattified OPI series, and today are some of the brights and starting into the darks! From left to right is Fuchsia Fling!, Big Apple Red, Sea? I Told You!, and You Don't Know Jacques!.
Fuchsia Fling - I love this one matte and glossy. It is such a basic color, I love it both ways!
Big Apple Red - This one is ok matte, I don't love it though. I think I prefer it glossy, although it doesn't look bad matte.
Sea? I Told You! - It doesn't look that much different matte, but all of that glitter still pops through, which I like. It's.....different!
You Don't Know Jacques! - I love this one matte, and I saved myself monies from getting the specifically matte version of this color! This is great both ways!
The picture below contains the same polsihes glossy for comparison. Have a great day everyone!

Mattified Sinful Colors! Post #1

I still love the Essie Matte About You topcoat! Here are three of my Sinful polishes mattified! They are Genteel, Ladies in Waiting, and Jamboree.
Genteel - It is ok matte; I am not sure that I like it as much as the glossy.
Ladies in Waiting - It is still super frosty when I matte it, in fact it did not look particularly matte after two coats of topcoat.
Jamboree - This is awesome matte! It really brings out the violet undertone in the polish!

Mattified OPI! Post #2

Here are four more of my OPI polishes mattified with the Essie "Matte About You" topcoat. These are the "medium" and bright tones of my OPI collection.

Brights Power - This looks sweet matte! I love how it tones down the brightness a smidge but it is still really fun!

Done Out In Deco - This is one of my favorite polishes, and I am not quite sure if I like it matte. I think that I like it glossy more.

Green-wich Village - I like this color matte too, much in the same way as Brights Power. It turns into a nice grassy green, I like!

DS Reflection - I love this holo matte! It gives the polish a lot of depth and the sparkle still really stands out!

Here is the glossy pic for comparison!

Mattified OPI! Post #1

Hey everyone! I am so excited about my new Essie Matte Topcoat that I am going to once in awhile post swatches of 4 of my polishes glossy and matte. Today we will start with my lightest OPIs!

Alpine Snow - Wow this looks great matte. This was one of the colors released with the official OPI Matte collection, but I think that this looks the same as that polish. Hooray for money saved!

Tutti Frutti Tonga - I am not as much of a fan of this, although it looks really pretty. I think that I was expecting more.

Kreme de la Kremlin - This looks very sophisticated matte, but I think that I like it more when it is glossy.

Melon of Troy - I love how this one looks matte, it still shows some of the frostiness but the matte texture really tones it down. Overall these look pretty spiffy! The pic below is the glossy polishes.
