My Space Nails

I've been meaning to do these nails for a while. SPACE NAILS and credits go to Asami's Space Nail tutorial. I hope you enjoy, they don't look much like space to me (compared to Asami's) but it reminds me more of a nebulous cloud in space, maybe because I sponged too much =P

Materials I used:
OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees Suede (since I didn't have ManGlaze Matte is Murder or Zoya Dovima)
OPI DS Original (for the holo part)
Misa No Shrinking Violetta (for the sheer duochrome part)
Pa Nail Color A125 (for the stars)

I got a compliment today when I wore them out for the first day. :)
Hope you like them as much as I do!~
happy polishing
and don't forget to enter into my CSN giveaway (ends March 12) and my 300 follower giveaway (March 26)! Just to clarify, the picture is from google and it is not the actual polishes that I will be giving away :P

The New, Bad, Beautiful and Good

Hi all~ :) I hope everyone had a great New Years! Mine was alright, and I'm trying to work a bit more even with the lack of hours they gave me. This is my first post for the New Year! :) Anyways, onto nails~ today I'm posting the new, the bad, beautiful and good. The new? meaning new brand or something I haven't tried yet. The bad? Something that didn't come out exactly the way I wanted to, but it isn't that bad. The beautiful? The shades I picked out for today. The good? A pretty good nail art, since I haven't been doing that much lately.

First, here is the new and beautiful. Rimmel 60 Seconds in Night Before (#615). It's a dark purple shimmer with orange and pink iridiscent. The swatch is 2 coats and 1 coat of top coat. The pictures don't show the iridiscents well but you can kind of see it in the bottle. I've never seen these bottles until I went to Kmart, which I don't go to very often.

The pretty bad is the nail art I tried. I tried to make a flower but first the center white came out too much and I think I could've done better. But hey, I tried! And I'll probably practice some more. :P

Another beautiful and new is Wet N Wild Blackmail (#218). This is 3 coats; just to be safe for the color and missing spots and 1 coat of top coat. It's a black base jelly-creme-ish but more creme. It contains orange/copper glitter inside as well. Totally awesome and it was my first time seeing this one! So lucky I found it at Kmart :)

The (pretty) good? Penguin nail art! I've seen a lot of this recently, especially by Pan and I've been meaning to try it out. So I tried to make a bow tie and failed so I covered it up and not well enough and it swirled a bit with the pearl black nail art I used. But pretty good in my opinion! I gave him a sparkly nose, kind of like Rudolph :P

I picked up an extra bottle of Wet N Wild Blackmail for my giveaway that I will start when I reach 300 followers. I don't have the prize all picked out yet, but I will try to get some here and there :)

Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed & happy polishing!

Unnamed Franken

November 27, 2010

So I finally got my hello kitty stamping plate that I ordered from Born Pretty Store, thanks to Katrina for the code :) I was so surprised that Jessica (from BPS) added the stamper and scraper as well! & Christmas stickers! :) Totally love her and definitely going to order from her again. :) Super sweet and always emails me on updates on my order.

Today's a franken I made :) I don't have a name yet, but I'm open to suggestions. It's a black jelly with blue/turquoise and copper glitters.

This was 3 coats and 1 coat of top coat since it's a black jelly.

Do you like it? :D

Chanel + OPI

November 16, 2010

So these were another part of my birthday present, one from my bf and one from my friend. :)♥ Totally awesome because it now adds to my lonely Nouvelle Vague in my collection :P

These were wrapped with white wrapping paper and then individually had a Chanel bow tied around them, so adorable! I wish I got a picture of them wrapped before I tore it apart LOL!

Chanel Soho Collection Steel
black with silver shimmer. I like that the shimmer isn't too big and overpowering on this and it's simple. The mega brownie points came from the fact that it took me only ONE coat for this swatch! :) The application was good and although the formula was a little on the thick side, it helped making it a one coater. :) LOVEEE it?

Chanel Soho Collection Strong
black with purple shimmer. I like the shimmer but it doesn't show that much, it looks so nice on the bottle, rawr! But on the plus side, it's another one coater! :D I freaking LOOOOVE the flash picture of this♥!

IN OTHER NEWS, I ordered Chanel Riva :D ~ I hope I get it soon!!

And in even better news,
100 winners will be receiving a set 6 retired OPI's from OPI!! Isn't that awesome?
- Kinky in Helsinki
- Smokin In Havana
- Hoodoo Voodoo
- Parlez-Vous OPI
- Sahara Sapphire
- Cheyenne Pepper

The only thing is that this is only for US residents :(

To enter, you must 'Like' OPI's Facebook Page, then fill out the entry form for the giveaway & maybe you can refer me! :) [Katherine Wu]

Purple

Today is the day to wear purple in memory of the recent suicides due to gay abuse. Since my nails are nubbins and I'm trying to grow them, I did swatches on plastic nails. Also, I have work, which doesn't allow me to have my nails painted. These are my favorites and I'm also introducing another new polish to my collection, but you probably have seen it one too many times already!

from left to right:
Essie Splash of Grenadine - pink purple jelly creme. 2 coats and 1 coat of top coat
OPI Show It and Glow It - purple, silver and blue glitter. 3 coats and 1 coat of top coat
China Glaze: Mummy May I - black creme with silver glitters. 3 coats and 1 coat of top coat

hope you enjoyed,

Featured Nails

In one of my previous posts where I did my take on the Ruffian Manicure, I asked if anyone wanted to send me pictures of their take at the Ruffian Manicure. So today's ultra late/late night/early post is a featured post of the Polish Addict's Ruffian Manicure.

For the manicure, she used OPI Alpine Snow for the base and the black is Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Black Out.

hope you enjoyed, more nail stuff to come!

Oh Bunny, you're darn adorable♥

Today, I PRESENT TO YOU A NAIL ART POST! YAY! I know you all have been craving for nail art and I finally got inspired to do something after looking over my folder of nail art. I had tons of fun with this too.

First my mani was OPI Dating a Royal. I used 2 coats of DAR. You can see my nail broke on the side of my ring finger <:( boo. The formula was a bit water-y in my opinion for a creme, which surprised me but I totally dig the color! (excuse my lingo :P)

Next, for my other fingers (excluding ring) I used China Glaze Dorothy Who (1 coat) over it and then 1 coat of Seche top coat. For my ring finger I made a BUNNY! :) Isn't it adorable? This was my first attempt at a bunny and trust me, it came out the best the FIRST time and not the second or third time, odd.. But anyways I used OPI Alpine Snow for the white bunny, Wet N Wild Tickled Pink for the bunny's ears and nose and LA Colors Black Nail Art for the eyes. Then you wait a while for it to try because trust me you don't want to put top a few seconds later or else you'll smear your nail art. This happened to me a lot so wait a "considerable" amount of time before you apply so it doesn't smear and you have pretty darn cute nail art! =)

Tomorrow is the last day to enter my giveaway, which ends at 11:59 EST (NYC). So hurry and enter in! :)

hope you enjoyed,
<3katherine

PS: I've got it on slow picture tutorial (I'm not good with speaking on video) for those who want to try this! :)

[Part II] Barielle Swatches

This is the last group of Barielle's that I got. :) I really like the bottle that you'll see in some of my swatches. It's a glass water bottle that I got from a restaurant. I love the bottle and I filled it up with paper stars that I made a long time ago.

Belly Dance. a light taupe shimmer. It looks really cute but it looks neutral compared to my skintone T__T; maybe if I get whiter over the winter haha! Or whitening soap ;) This is 2 coats and no top coat.

Blackened Bleu. the name says it all, except that the black is jelly. The thing I love about it is that the blue shimmers A LOT. :) The swatch is 3 coats and 1 coat of top coat.

Myrza's Meadow. a lime yellow green jelly with gold glitter that shines rainbow. I read a review about it and someone said it was one of the worse ones from the collection to work with. But generally, I had no problems with this nail polish except for the VNL - it shows the white tip but if you have short nub nails, you'll have no problems. The swatch is 2 coats and 1 coat of top coat. A little bumpy when it dries, but that's no problem if you always seal your manicures with top coat :). Still love it though! *my picture might not be as good; probably will redo this swatch.

Slate of Affairs. medium grayed out cornflower blue water-y base but not jelly (probably glass flecked; I'm no good with identifying finishes =x)with blue shimmer. OH HOW COULD I HAVE DOUBTED GETTING YOU? :( I'm sorry but I'm glad I decided to get you. :) You're totally awesome and beautiful. The swatch is 2 coats and no top coat.

Swizzle Stix. a greyed out sky blue/turquoise thin but not jelly base. This reminded me of Brucci's Kathy's Baby Blues but then that was more sky blue than this. :P The swatch is 2 coats and no top coat on my index and middle fingers & 3 coats on my ring and pinky fingers (for full coverage on my nail tips). Good formula, not hard to apply though it seemed a bit "water-y" but not really.

Overall: Barielle's formula is a thick, but mostly it's opaque when you apply it. You get a glob of polish when you're about to apply but it won't ruin your manicures. I still like the formula a lot despite the 'thickness.'

5 more followers until my giveaway!! & tell me your favorites in this group :)
hope you enjoyed,
